DALLAS -- Oklahoma State capitalized on a season-high five takeaways and roared to a 58-14 victory over Purdue in the Heart of Dallas Bowl, setting a stadium record for points in a bowl game staged at the historic Cotton Bowl.

OSU improved to 8-5 and won a bowl in three consecutive seasons for the first time in program history.

Purdue, which won three consecutive games at the end of the regular season to secure bowl eligibility, dropped to 6-7.

OSU quarterback Clint Chelf hit 17 of 22 passes for 197 yards and three touchdowns, taking a seat after leading the Cowboys to a 45-7 lead late in the third quarter. Quarterbacks J.W. Walsh and Wes Lunt finished the game.

OSU used a punt return and an interception to take over the game in the first quarter. Josh Stewart returned a punt 64 yards, allowing the Cowboys to start their second drive of the game at the Purdue 19. The Boilermakers converted a fake punt deep in their own territory to extend their opening drive.

Four plays after the Stewart return, Chelf hit Charlie Moore for a 4-yard touchdown and a 7-0 OSU lead.

The Cowboys' Shamiel Gary intercepted a tipped pass on Purdue's next series, and Chelf converted that into a 7-yard TD pass to Blake Jackson.

Walsh got into the act on the next series, when he entered the game for one play and hit Jeremy Seaton with a 16-yard touchdown pass.

Another OSU turnover got the blowout rolling in the second half, as Justin Gilbert forced a Purdue fumble that Daytawion Lowe returned 37 yards for a 35-0 Cowboys lead less than a minute into the third quarter.
