Tulsa battled back from a double-digit deficit at halftime but fell short in a 73-69 loss to Stephen F. Austin on Sunday in women's college basketball in Nacogdoches, Texas.

Taleya Mayberry set a new career high with 33 points for the Golden Hurricane (4-8).

"It just goes back to the fact that we didn't play hard enough in the first 20 minutes," TU head coach Matilda Mossman said. "We have to be a 40-minute team."

Kelsee Grovey added 10 points for TU, while Tiffani Couisnard and Loren McDaniel each scored eight. McDaniel also pulled down a team-best 15 rebounds, while Couisnard added 10 boards.

SFA led for nearly the entire first half and went into intermission with a 37-26 lead. However, the Hurricane scored the first 11 points of the second half to tie the contest at 37-all with 17:07 remaining. The teams traded runs over the next few minutes before SFA built a seven-point lead with 7:06 to play, and TU was unable to make up all of that deficit.
