A woman was injured when several shots were fired into two occupied apartments Tuesday night, police said.

The 22-year-old victim was taken to a Tulsa area hospital in serious condition, an EMSA spokeswoman said. Police reported the victim’s age as 23.

Police were called about 8:15 p.m. to The Meadows Apartments, in the 2800 block of South 115th East Avenue, for several reports of shots fired, said Capt. Mike Williams.

When officers arrived, they found the victim in an apartment with injuries to her head, he said. It was unclear if the woman was grazed by the bullet or if she was injured by shrapnel, Williams said.

Between seven and nine shots were fired into the apartments, Williams said. Another apartment had a window shot out, but no injuries were reported.

“It was as if the individual was running across and shooting,” Williams said.

One small child was in the apartment with the victim when the shooting occurred, Williams said. At least two small children were in the other apartment.

Williams said police were still investigating the incident, and they aren’t sure yet if her apartment was the target or if it was the other apartment that was hit.

No description of the shooter was available.
