BROKEN ARROW - A Broken Arrow man was arrested Wednesday on allegations that he attempted to suffocate his wife and force her to take prescription pills, the Wagoner County Sheriff's Office reported.

Travis Brian Neighbors, 38, is accused of handcuffing Darla Smith Neighbors, trying to force prescription pills into her mouth and attempting on multiple occasions to suffocate her, Maj. Gary Handley said in a news release.

Deputies arrested him while investigating a reported domestic disturbance at the couple's house near 91st Street and 257th East Avenue, although he tried to flee as the deputies spoke with the couple's neighbors, the release says.

He had marijuana, other controlled drugs and drug paraphernalia on him when he was arrested, Handley said in the release.

Travis Neighbors is being held in the Wagoner County Jail without bond on complaints of attempted murder; domestic assault and battery; kidnapping; attempted escape; and possession of marijuana, pills and drug paraphernalia.
