Freezing overnights expected to continue for Tulsa area; Below-zero temperatures in Panhandle

Tulsa World Weather: A new weather site powered by the Tulsa staff of the National Weather Service. The partnership allows Tulsa World readers to receive weather alerts, forecasts and current conditions as the staff issues them.

The National Weather Service forecasts continued freezing overnight lows for the Tulsa area.

Daily highs are expected to reach the low 40s this afternoon, but are forecast to rise to the low to mid-50s by early next week.

Tulsa's overnight lows are forecast to reach as low as the upper teens on Thursday night, then rise as high as the low 30s by Sunday night.

Tulsa started the New Year with a high of 38 degrees and a low of 19 on Tuesday. Tulsa also recorded trace amounts on snow Tuesday.

Below-zero tempeartures recorded today in Oklahoma

The Oklahoma Mesonet reported below-zero tempreatures in parts of the Oklahoma Panhandle Tuesday morning.

In Cimarron County, the county on the western tip of the Pandandle, a low temperature of minus-8 was recorded for Kenton. In another part of the county, minus-1 was recorded for Boise City.

Temperatures as of 9:45 a.m. today were still below zero in the northwestern tip of Cimarron County.
