OKLAHOMA CITY - A particularly bloody year for Oklahoma City went out quietly, law officers said.
A reported shooting Monday night turned out to be a gun fired into the air, and a drive-by shooting early Tuesday left one man hurt, but he was treated and released from a hospital, Oklahoma City police Lt. Kevin Parton said.
The last reported homicide in Oklahoma City — on Dec. 27 — was the 99th of the year. There were 10 other homicides in the first three weeks of December. The city's record number of homicides was 102 in 1979.
