Descendents spread
Filter music magazine celebrates its 50th issue with a cover and spread dedicated to the 50th birthday of The Descendents frontman Milo Aukerman, including a cover story on the influential band.
Filter also has details on a tribute album to the iconic, Oklahoma-tied punk act. Aukerman's birthday was Jan. 1.
For years, Descendents guitarist Stephen Egerton has run Armstrong Studio here in Tulsa, where he produces, records and makes music.
Two years ago, Egerton released the album "The Seven Degrees of Stephen Egerton," featuring Egerton and a variety of vocalists, including Milo Aukerman, Tim McIlrath, Mike Herrera and more.
He also performs in a side project called Slorder.
The players include The Henry Clay People, Good Riddance, FIDLAR (featuring Brian Rodriguez), Ben Bridwell of Band of Horses, Thrillionaire, Milo Greene, Mike Watt, Edsel, Teen, The Bronx, The Babies, Tijuana Panthers, Bobby Birdman and YACHT.

Robots on Broadway?
Will Yoshimi battle her pink robots on Broadway?
If Des McAnuff has his way, the answer is a likely yes.
McAnuff, director of "Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots," based on the music of Oklahoma City rocker The Flaming Lips, recently told California's North County Times that the tech-heavy sci-fi romp has a potential to woo fans new and old alike.
The musician recently finished its debut run at the La Jolla Playhouse in La Jolla, Calif.
McAnuff, who also directed Broadway musical productions "Big River," "The Who's Tommy" and "Jersey Boys," said Yoshimi has been one of his ambitions since he first worked with the La Jolla Playhouse back in 1983, the North County Times reported.

Princess of Leon
Kings of Leon drummer Nathan Followill is a dad.
The Oklahoma-tied musician tweeted on Dec. 27: "I can proudly announce the birth of my sweet angel Violet Marlowe Followill. My heart has been stolen and it feels so good."
KoL is based in Nashville. Bandmates Nathan and Matthew Followill were raised in Oklahoma. The act was inducted into the Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame in 2010.
