Letter to the Editor: Spending problem

Finally, the true fiscal objective of the progressive movement has been put in writing.

Eugene Robinson's Dec. 12 column, the subject of which was the bashing of conservatives, unapologetically stated that "it's hard to imagine long-term solutions (to our nation's fiscal health) that don't eventually require more tax revenue from the middle class as well as the rich."

Not once did Robinson suggest anything about cuts in federal spending. That concept doesn't square with the progressive ideology. Uber-liberals such as Robinson want big government on which everyone is dependent and they need our money to pay for it.

Those who support taxing the rich their "fair share" need only wait.

Their opportunity to contribute more of their income in the form of higher taxes is not far off. Maybe then more Americans will wake up to the fact that what we have in this country is a spending problem, not a revenue problem
