FIRST QUARTER

Key play: In his debut as a punt returner this season, Josh Stewart took Purdue's first punt 64 yards, setting up a 4-yard touchdown pass from Clint Chelf to Charlie Moore.

Key stat: Stewart's punt return was the longest by an OSU player since Josh Cooper returned a Troy punt 66 yards for a touchdown in 2010.

Number to know: Eight. Chelf completed eight consecutive passes in the first quarter after his first throw was off target.

SECOND QUARTER

Key play: On fourth-and-1 from the Purdue 16, quarterback J.W. Walsh threw to the end zone, resulting in Jeremy Seaton's first career touchdown.

Key stat: In the first half, the Boilermakers ran two more plays (38) than OSU did but were outscored by four touchdowns.

Number to know: Six. The Cowboys shut out a team for a half for the sixth time this season.

THIRD QUARTER

Key play: Thirty-four seconds into the third quarter, OSU safety Daytawion Lowe took a fumble forced by Justin Gilbert 37 yards for a touchdown. It was the first touchdown scored by the Cowboy defense this season.

Key stat: Through three quarters, Purdue maintained a nine-minute advantage in time of possession.

Number to know: Five. OSU was 5-for-5 on red-zone scoring chances in the game's first 45 minutes, while Purdue was 0-for-1.

FOURTH QUARTER

Key play: Tyler Johnson forced a fumble by Purdue running back Akeem Shavers, and Brodrick Brown recovered and returned it 11 yards. Five plays later, Walsh delivered a 37-yard strike to Blake Webb for OSU's final touchdown.

Key stat: The Boilermakers fumbled the ball six times and lost three. The Cowboys also intercepted quarterback Robert Marve twice.

Number to know: Five. A total of five OSU players completed passes Tuesday (quarterbacks Chelf, Walsh and Wes Lunt; Joseph Randle and Josh Stewart on trick plays).
