A man was hospitalized in critical condition after he was shot outside of a townhouse Wednesday night.

Police were called to the MedCenter, 2929 S. Garnett Road, at 10:07 p.m. by a gunshot victim who was seeking treatment at the facility, which was closed, said Officer Leland Ashley.

The 31-year-old man told police he drove himself to the clinic after he was shot during a holdup outside of the Worthington Townhouses, 11813 E. 21st Court.

Two men blocked him inside of his car, demanded money and shot him in the abdomen as he attempted to flee, Ashley said.

The victim was transported to St. Francis Hospital in critical condition, Ashley said.

The shooter is described as a tall black man with a thin build who was wearing a red jacket. The men left the scene in a black Dodge Neon.
