A 14-year-old was charged with murder Thursday as an adult in the fatal shooting of a woman in Jenks last month.

Joshua Scott Mooney was charged in Tulsa County District Court with one count each of first-degree murder and second-degree burglary.

Mooney, an eighth-grader at Jenks Middle School, was arrested Dec. 18 in connection with the fatal shooting of Mary Escue, 47, of Reno, Nev.

Mooney told detectives he’d broken into Escue’s parents’ Jenks home to steal money when Escue returned and he shot her, according to his arrest report.

Meanwhile, Tulsa County homicide investigators are continuing to question several juveniles after receiving additional information in the slaying.

A second teen was interviewed about the fatal shooting on Wednesday. He was not taken into custody, said Tulsa County Sheriff’s Maj. Shannon Clark.

Several other juveniles are expected to be interviewed Thursday, he said.

Deputies are unsure whether the interviews will warrant additional arrests.
