NORMAN - Aaryn Ellenberg scored 19 points, leading five Oklahoma players in double figures, and the 17th-ranked Sooners spoiled West Virginia's Big 12 debut with a 71-68 victory Wednesday night.

Sharane Campbell had 17 points and 12 rebounds and Joanna McFarland had 13 points and 13 rebounds for Oklahoma (11-2). Nicole Griffin added 11 points and Morgan Hook scored 10 for the Sooners in their conference opener. Campbell's free throw with 5 seconds left made it 71-67 Sooners.

"Give Oklahoma credit, they fought back," WVU coach Mike Carey said. "We got into foul trouble and we just have to do a better job of defending without fouling. We didn't do a good job on the boards and when we let them tie it, we kind of got shook up. You can't put them at the line 39 times and win a game."

Taylor Palmer made eight 3-pointers and led the Mountaineers (8-4) with 30 points.

Oklahoma only made two 3-pointers, but the Sooners made 31 of 39 free throws while West Virginia was 9 for 13 from the foul line.

The Mountaineers shot 36.2 percent with 25 field goals to OU's 19. Oklahoma hit 43.2 percent of its shots on 19-of-44 shooting.

The Sooners will take on Texas in Austin at 12:30 p.m. Saturday.
