Helen Jeannette Miller was born in Mt. Ayr, Iowa on April 1, 1925 to James Leroy and Ethel Evelyn Miller. She peacefully passed from this life to her heavenly reward on New Year’s Eve December 31, 2012 at the age of 87. Helen was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Dan C Miller; sister, Josephine Harper; and son, Larry Paul Lawson. She is survived by her daughters, Nancy Hamil and Trudy Dinsmore and son-inlaw, Harold Dinsmore all of Tulsa. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Joseph Hamil, Toby Hamil, Stephanie Hamil, R.P. Hamil, Amanda Delahay, and Brian Dinsmore and 12 great-grandchildren. Helen moved to Tulsa with her parents in 1936. She was a graduate of Tulsa Central High School (Class of ‘42) and Pope Business College. After graduating Helen married Paul S. Lawson and started her family in Tulsa. Later she moved with her family to Denver and then to Oklahoma City. While in Oklahoma City, Helen became executive secretary to Governor Henry Bellmon. She then moved to Washington Jeannette Miller D.C. where she continued in the same role when Governor Bellmon was elected to the U.S. Senate. After this, she lived in Florida and Arkansas for a few years, before returning to Tulsa to be close to family where she spent the last several years of her life. Helen was an accomplished organist. She was organist at Eastside Christian Church in Tulsa, South Broadway Christian Church in Denver, and Village Christian Church in Oklahoma City. She also was organist at all three of the Bellmon daughters’ weddings. She played Handels Messiah at the church Christmas program. In addition to her musical talent, Helen was a wonderful seamstress and made lots of her family’s wardrobe as well as miniature doll clothes. Helen was very much loved and will be deeply missed by her family and many friends. A memorial service in celebration of Helen’s life will be held 11:00 AM on Saturday January 5, 2012 at Eastside Christian Church, 1438 S. Indianapolis, Tulsa OK where Helen was a long time member.
