Notes: The Sooners catch Texas in transition. Gail Goestenkors resigned as coach after the 2011-12 season, marking the end of a disappointing five-year run in which she failed to live up to expectations and the legacy of Jody Conradt, the legendary coach she replaced. The Longhorns went "outside the family" to pluck Goestenkors from Duke. They weren't about to do so a second time - they hired Karen Aston, a Conradt assistant from 1998-2006, away from North Texas.

Aston began her tenure by going 5-0 in November. Then reality hit as the scheduled toughened. The Longhorns have gone 2-5 since, with losses to Tennessee, UCLA, Iowa and Iowa State included. The setback at ISU was an overtime heartbreaker, and it dropped Texas to 0-1 in the Big 12.

OU is 1-0 after gutting out a 71-68 victory over West Virginia on Wednesday in Norman. Sharane Campbell and Joanna McFarland both posted double-doubles, while Aaryn Ellenberg scored a team-high 19 points.
