A University of Oklahoma student from Broken Arrow was the big winner Saturday at the site of the national championship college football game in Florida.

Kelsie Berg, 18, won a $100,000 scholarship as part of the Dr Pepper Tuition Giveaway on Saturday.

"It's overwhelming ... and a blessing," Berg said moments after winning the competition.

Berg, along with five others, participated in the preliminary and final rounds Saturday at Sun Life Stadium in Miami to complete the task of throwing the most footballs through a large Dr Pepper can in 30 seconds.

The OU mass communications freshman defeated four other finalists to win the award that will be officially presented to her during halftime of the Discover BCS National Championship game Monday.

Berg entered the contest after her mother came across the advertisement, she said.

It was then that Berg submitted a two-minute video, rapping to the tune of "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air" theme song explaining why she should be considered for the scholarship.

Berg, who sparingly participated in organized sports, credits her victory to the hours of practice she put in with her father before traveling to Miami.

The money, Berg says, will aid in her efforts to attend law school at the University of Tulsa.

In the meantime, Berg will focus on all the pregame parties, events and concerts she and the other finalists are expected to attend leading up to the big game Monday at Miami Gardens where No. 1 Notre Dame and No. 2 Alabama are scheduled to battle for college football supremacy.

"Even if I didn't win, this has been the best trip of my life," Berg said.
