Sometimes people wonder how the world was able to maintain its axis before high-tech electronics.
There have always been important calls to make.
There was a time all the calls were made on land lines, phones plugged into wall outlets and connected to wires out back, dumb phones built solely for voice transmission.
Making calls from a seated position required order aforethought. A person planned ahead. Calling before driving sometimes required five minutes of private concentration.
Whether driving without calling is safer remains to be calculated. But you would think it is. Calling while driving saves a few seconds, there's that.
There have always been games.
Before video, most games required physical action, a ball, a glove, a basket, a net, a putter, a vivid imagination.
Before video, most games were played out of doors.
Anymore, lots of children are allergic to what's outside, or are afraid of what could be lurking around the corner.
Few changes: There have always been reviews.
There have always been opinions.
There have always been emergencies.
There have always been bullies.
The way these situations were handled before electronic ease and convenience was in person.
Dealing with somebody face to face is oftentimes a better way to the truth than via remote control.
It's amazing how few things have been spawned as a result of electronic genius - have been created from thin air.
Computer repair technology is new.
Stuff from far-out space is new.
Medical techniques are new.
Video games are new.
Most else is simply quicker.
Work required: There has always been information.
It used to be in the history books and texts.
You used to have to sit in the library and forage for information, search for it, work for it, discover it, which sometimes made its finding all the more rewarding.
Now most of what you need to know can be called to a screen.
What's the rush?
It's work. The competition is now really fast.
Away from work, there's no particular need to rush.
