Edmond Santa Fe (6A): During a recent game, coach Paul Bass became so animated that his state championship ring flew off his hand. The No. 1 Wolves (8-1) have won the last two 6A titles and may need refitting for another ring. They have beaten No. 7 Edmond Memorial, No. 15 Union, 4A No. 1 Anadarko, and made it look pretty easy, outscoring opponents by 25.6 points per game. Shawnee (5A): The top-ranked Wolves are winning without Kelsee Grovey and Taylor Cooper, now collegiate freshmen at TU and ORU, respectively. The rebuilt squad is 8-1 with a win over 5A No. 2 Edmond Deer Creek, and its only loss is to 6A No. 2 Bixby.

Anadarko (4A): Led by senior Lakota Beatty, the No. 1 Warriors (10-1) seem headed to another title after beating 5A No. 2 East Central 62-51 in the Tournament of Champions final. Their only losses in the last two years are to Edmond Santa Fe and Shawnee.

OKC Millwood (3A): Quira Demery and Lauren Fonteno are gone, but the third-ranked Falcons (5-2) return three starters from last year. Their only losses are to Fort Smith (Ark.) Northside and 5A No. 2 Deer Creek.

Fairview (2A): Coach Mike Barton is confident the No. 2 Yellowjackets (7-1) can repeat. They narrowly beat No. 1 OKC Northeast in last year’s final, and likely must deal with the Vikings again.

Frontier (A): The third-ranked Mustangs (8-3) have lost three times, but last year’s team was only 12-7 before winning 13 of its final 14. Leading scorer Marissa Goodman averaged 19.7 points last season.

Lomega (B): Ashley Lagasse, Taylor Mendell and Hailey Duff are among the top returnees for the Raiders (11- 4), who have won 10 state titles.
