12-year-old injured after running in front of car, police say

A 12-year-old girl was transported to a hospital after she was struck by a car Wednesday morning.
Witnesses told police the girl was walking along Pine Street when she ran in front of a westbound vehicle just east of Union Avenue around 7:30 a.m., Officer Leland Ashley said.
The girl suffered head injuries, which appeared to be minor, and was transported to Saint Francis Hospital, he said.
No citations were issued as responding officers determined the driver was not driving improperly.
