Letter to the Editor: Saddened

The Dec. 30 Tulsa World contained some very sad, sad stories. For example, the one about Jesil Wilson. Those stories about what happens to juveniles sentenced to adult prisons aren't a figment of someone's imagination. If more judges recognized what causes the bravado exhibited by persons out of Jesil's (the eldest of nine children whose father was never in the picture) world we probably would not have placed Jesil in his present situation. And we must remember, the judgment rendered in this case was rendered in our name.
I wish this were the only sad story but it was not the saddest in a way. In a marriage announcement this paragraph appeared: "For the added safety of the guests, police and private security have been hired."
I have no idea what motivated this announcement but I am saddened that families found it necessary for what should be a joyous beginning of a new life together.
What country is this?
