Sooners invited to play in all-star football games

NORMAN - Oklahoma cornerback Demontre Hurst has accepted an invitation to play in the East-West Shrine Game.

Hurst will play for the West in the Jan. 19 all-star college football game, which will be played at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Fla. Kickoff is 3 p.m. and will be broadcast on the NFL Network (Cox-252).

"I'm excited for the opportunity to play in the East-West Shrine Game," Hurst said. "I appreciate all of the support that I received from my coaches and teammates during my career at the University of Oklahoma, and will always be grateful for the chance to play in front of our great Sooners fans. I look forward to showcasing my skills in this all-star contest."

Hurst started all 13 games at cornerback this season. He finished with 59 tackles and had nine pass breakups.

OU defensive tackles Jamarkus McFarland and Stacy McGee have been added to the East Roster of the Casino Del Sol All-Star Game in Tucson, Ariz. The second annual contest will be played at 8 p.m. Friday.

Defensive end David King plans on playing in the Texas vs. the Nation game in Allen, Texas. The rosters for the Feb. 2 game have not been officially announced.

OU quarterback Landry Jones and offensive lineman Lane Johnson already have accepted invitations to play in the Jan. 26 Senior Bowl in Mobile, Ala.
