A Tulsa felon faces life plus 15 years in prison upon being convicted of murder plus a firearm offense Friday.

A Tulsa County jury found Antwan Maurice Reed guilty of first-degree murder in the fatal shooting of Eric Fuller.

Fuller,48, was shot in the back. He was found dead in a ditch in the 3100 block of East Virgin Street on Oct. 30, 2011, according to police.

The life term requires Reed, 35, to spend more than 38 years behind bars before he can become eligible for parole.

Jurors also found him guilty of possessing a firearm as a felon and imposed a 15-year term for that crime.

Assistant District Attorney Julie Doss said there was evidence that Reed had said he would “get” Fuller and that Reed indicated that Fuller owed him money.

Reed did not testify at this week’s trial in Tulsa County District Judge Bill Musseman’s court.

Defense lawyers Stephen Lee and Mark Cagle maintained that the prosecution did not prove that Reed did the shooting.

Court papers indicate that Reed has prior felony convictions for kidnapping, assault and battery on a police officer, burglary, concealing stolen property, possession of drugs and possessing a firearm as a felon.

Reed, whom jail records list as homeless when he was arrested, has been in the Tulsa Jail since Nov. 2, 2011, records show.
