JENKS - Both Jenks swim teams captured dual victories against Edmond Santa Fe and Edmond Memorial on Thursday night at the Jenks Aquatic Center.
The Trojans fell to Edmond North but had a good swim with the conference championship meet just one week away.
"I was especially pleased with our swimmers since we just came off our toughest training week," said Jenks head coach John Turner.
Kathy Bliss helped lead the charge for the Jenks girls with a win and two runner-up finishes.
"We knew this was going to be a tough meet," said Bliss. "Edmond North is always a good competitor. We go back and forth at state so it's good to race them and have your best time."
The senior was the only Trojans' swimmer to register an individual victory, doing so in the 100-yard breaststroke by .27 seconds.
"Whenever I was younger, all the seniors would win so much and I wanted to be like them," said Bliss. "Now that it's my turn I feel like I need to set a good example by working hard in practice and in school."
Bliss also had a second-place finish in the 200 individual medley and 200 medley relay.
The Jenks boys finished within 27 points of Edmond North and edged Edmond Memorial by seven.
The Trojans were aided by a pair of second and third-place finishes by Paden Scribner.
"It doesn't just come down to swimming as hard as you can, it's also turns, the start, the underwaters and this is such a technical sport," said Scribner.
The senior was involved in the "splash and dash" 50 freestyle event that proved, like many other meets, to be the most exciting event of the night.
"It comes down to what you did that week, what you ate that day and just so many things," said Scribner. "You can swim as hard as you can but if your start and turn aren't perfect, the race goes to whoever."
Scribner finished third in the race, just .06 seconds behind the winner and .02 seconds behind the runner-up.
"I probably shouldn't have clipped my fingernails," Scribner said with a smile.
Scribner registered second-place finishes in the 100 freestyle and the 200 freestyle relay.
Jenks will host the Frontier Conference championship meet Jan. 17 at 5:30 p.m.
