"Soul Food Junkie," an award-winning documentary which features the annual soul food cook-off in Muskogee, will premiere on television Monday night.

The movie will be on at 9 p.m. Monday on PBS channel 11.

Byron Hurt, the movie's producer, taped footage during the 2010 Dr. Martin Luther King Soul Food Cook-Off. A representative of the movie will be in Muskogee this week for a showing from 7 to 10 p.m. at the historic Roxy Theater as part of this year's celebration.

The movie explores the history of soul food and the cultural effect of the high-calorie, high-fat food. It won best documentary at the American Black Film Festival last year.
