OKLAHOMA CITY - The Oklahoma Supreme Court approved the resignation Monday of a suspended Nichols Hills attorney accused of misconduct by the Oklahoma Bar Association and who is charged with assisting a prisoner escape.

Amy McTeer was disciplined in February by the high court after the bar association filed a complaint requesting an immediate interim suspension, alleging McTeer's conduct could pose irreparable public harm.

McTeer, 40, requested in December that she be allowed to resign pending disciplinary proceedings. The Supreme Court's order states that because resignation pending disciplinary proceedings is similar to disbarment, McTeer may not apply for reinstatement for five years.

She was charged last year with child endangerment after telling police she was under the influence of methamphetamine while caring for four children — two belonging to her.
