Colvin says he'll return to Sooners next season

NORMAN - Aaron Colvin will return for his senior season at Oklahoma.
Colvin had been contemplating early entry into the 2013 NFL draft. The Sooner cornerback made his intention to remain in school known via social media on Monday. The Owasso High School graduate's Twitter account stated: "I have decided to return for my senior year. Thank you to everyone who have supported me through this tough process. Back to work I go."
Colvin was an All-Big 12 First Team selection by the AP and coaches in 2012.
"I am pleased that Aaron has come to this decision and I believe it's the right one for him," OU coach Bob Stoops said. "I believe he has an opportunity to become one of the premier defensive players in the Big 12 and in the country. Hopefully, he will continue to work hard to reach that potential and help us achieve our team's goals."
Colvin didn't join teammates Tony Jefferson, Kenny Stills and Tom Wort in making early departures to play professional football.
"I still have unfinished business at Oklahoma," Colvin said. "I'm excited for the opportunity to be back on the field with my teammates in 2013. There are team and individual goals that I'd still like to accomplish at OU."
Colvin should be an instant leader on a defense that will begin next season with nearly a clean slate. Colvin joins only three other players - Chuka Ndulue, Corey Nelson and Gabe Lynn - who started the regular-season finale at TCU.
Asked if defensive coordinator Mike Stoops would benefit from working with a new group of players, Bob Stoops said, "All of our (coaches) need to work with them. Mike doesn't work with every single guy individually. We all feel good about a lot of our young guys.
"It's our job to develop them."
The Sooners' secondary, which intercepted 13 passes last season, also lost Javon Harris and Demontre Hurst to graduation. Colvin, with four picks, is the only returning player with an interception.
Colvin had a breakout junior campaign after shifting back to cornerback, where he began his career in 2010. His sophomore season was spent at safety.
