February 25, 1916 - January 13, 2013 Emily Jean Barchfeld was born and raised in McKeesport, Pennsylvania by her parents John and Mary Ann Aitkenhead Sneddon. She passed from this life at the age of 96. Emily graduated from McKeesport high school and attended the University of Pittsburgh where she pledged Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority. Emily met Andrew Jackson Barchfeld II at a tea dance as a freshman. They eloped on December 27, 1935. Their two children were born while they lived in McKeesport, Andrew Jackson Barchfeld III and Judith Ann Barchfeld McKee. Her husband, her parents, her brother Dr. John Sneddon of Hanover, PA, her granddaughter Mary Kate McKee and her beloved son, Andrew Jackson III of Amherst, OH, predeceased Mrs. Barchfeld. After her husband returned from World War II the family moved to Lorain, Ohio. In Lorain Emily was active in the Colony Club, the Cotillion Club and was a founding member of the Northminster Presbyterian Church. She moved to Tulsa after her husband died to be near her daughter and family. In Tulsa she enjoyed her investment club, bridge club and sewing. Her family of faith was the members of Kirk of the Hills where she served on the guild for 20 years. She lived at Harvard Park Village for 30 years and then moved to Montreau in 2005. Emily has left behind her loving daughter Judy and husband Ernie McKee. Sister-in-law Nancy Langsdale of Green Valley, AZ. Granddaughters and husbands, Joy and Scott Northeim of Amherst, OH and Emily and Kevin Wilson of Tulsa. Grandson’s and wives, Michael and Janice McKee and Matthew and Samantha McKee also of Tulsa. Emily’s treasured great-grandchildren are Andrew and Emma Northeim, Ernie, Mark, Warren, John and Caroline McKee and Banks, Luke and Mary Wilson. When the delightful Emily entered a room a burst of sunshine always came with her. Her family knows she is dancing with her husband in the presence of the Lord. In lieu of flowers please donate to Pathways at The Kirk of the Hills. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m., Wednesday, at Stanleys Funeral Home. Services will be at 10:30 Thursday, January 17th, 2013 at The Kirk of the Hills and burial will be at Ridge Hill Memorial Cemetery in Lorain, Ohio.
