ONEOK Inc. on Wednesday increased its quarterly dividend to 36 cents per common share for 2012's fourth quarter. The payout will be made Feb. 14 to shareholders of record at the close of business Jan. 31.

The dividend is 3 cents, or 9 percent, higher than the 33 cents per share paid during the previous quarter. The fourth-quarter 2011 payout was 61 cents per share, distributed several months before ONEOK split its stock 2 for 1.

ONEOK and ONEOK Partners CEO and Chairman John Gibson gave credit for higher dividends to the success of the partnership's ongoing projects. ONEOK Partners has had $4.2 billion to $4.8 billion in work under way in natural gas and natural gas liquids projects.

ONEOK owns Oklahoma Natural Gas and two other utilities as well as a controlling stake of ONEOK Partners.
