Duane Dale Lunger, 90, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, World War II Veteran, retired decorated US Army Lieutenant Colonel, successful business man and engineer, went to be with our Lord on Saturday, January 12, 2013. Born July 26, 1922 in Covington, Oklahoma to Marion Earl and Dora Nevada Lunger, who preceded him in death. Duane met India Alice Smith through mutual friends in Oklahoma City at the end of World War II. Duane and India were married on Christmas Eve 1946. They spent 60 wonderful years of marriage until her death in 2007. He was a 1947 graduate of The University of Oklahoma, where he received a BS in Mechanical Engineering and many awards. He was a founding member of New Haven United Methodist Church. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Doris Lunger Jackson. Duaneās memory will live on through his 2 children and their families, Larry E. Lunger and wife, Kathleen T. Vinson-Lunger of Tulsa, OK and Jeannie Lunger Reed of Tulsa, OK. He is also survived by: 6 grandchildren, Kimberly Coker and husband, Ron of Leawood, KS, Bryan Lunger of Tulsa, Matthew Lunger and wife, Tiffany of Tulsa, Amy Odom and husband, Keith of The Woodlands, TX, Michael Lunger and wife, Crystal of Dallas, TX, Taylor (TJ) Lunger of Norman; 6 great-grandchildren, Maddie, Kylee, Grace, Madison, Colton and Kadie. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations be made to New Haven United Methodist Endowment Fund, 5603 S. New Haven, Tulsa, OK 74135-4100. Visitation 5 to 8 p.m., Thursday, January 17. Service 2 p.m., Friday, January 18, 2013, at New Haven United Methodist Church, followed by interment at Floral Haven Cemetery.
