Thomas Jay Essley, Jr., (Pookie) 78, of Tulsa died January 15, 2013. He was born to the late Thomas and Gertrude Essley on July 25, 1934 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Jay graduated from Central High School in 1952 and then joined the Navy. He became a member of the Tulsa Fire Department in 1960 where he served for 30 years before retiring in 1990. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Cath- erine of the home; two sons, Tom and Mike of Tulsa; daughter Cathy residing in Shanghai; sisters, Mary Carol and Rita; 7 grandchildren, Tj, Amy, Brent, Eric, Cody, Austen and deceased Clifton; and several greatgrandchildren. Services will be at Moore’s Memory Chapel, 1403 South Peoria Avenue, at 10:00 A. M., Friday, January 18, 2013. This obituary was published in the Tulsa World on 1/17/2013.
