JENKS - When the 200-yard freestyle relay rolled around, the Jenks boys could clearly see their goal within reach, and the entire Jenks swim community let them hear about it.

Hunter Cordell, Morgan Medders, Paden Scribner and Reed Scroggs teamed up to win the 200 freestyle relay by three seconds over rival Union as the Trojans captured the Frontier Conference championship meet on Thursday night at the Jenks Trojan Aquatic Center.

"We have group of hard-working boys that didn't want to be the class that didn't win," said Jenks head coach John Turner. "They just willed their way through it."

The Jenks boys, who have never lost a conference championship meet, finished 34 points ahead of second-place Union.

"Our team really thrives under pressure," said Medders. "I believe we're capable of doing anything and I'm incredibly proud of the guys."

The Jenks girls, who have won all but one conference championship meet, started the night off with a victory in the 200 medley relay, and took nine of the 11 events.

"Starting off on a good note really gave us a lot of enthusiasm," said Camryn Hudgins, who won the 500 freestyle and was part of two winning relay teams.

Freshman Megan Inbody gave the Trojans a big boost with wins in the 50 and 100 freestyle events and was also part of two winning relay teams.

Hudgins, Inbody, Kathy Bliss, Hailey Jensen, Kelsey Landreth, Veronica Threadgill and Tatum Vann combined to help the Jenks girls win all three relay events. Bliss and Vann also earned individual victories.

The always exciting boys 50 freestyle event saw Jenks junior Hunter Cordell swim a personal best time to win by just over a 1/2 second.

"It was very exciting to win that event," said Cordell. "You never really know if you've won until the race is over."

Union senior Chase Davis turned in a 4-for-4 performance with wins in the 200 individual medley, 100 yard butterfly, 200 medley relay and 400 freestyle relay.

Broken Arrow sophomore Breonna Barker turned in an impressive meet, winning the 200 freestyle and 100 butterfly by more than three seconds.

Other individual conference champions included Jenks' Scribner, Union's Josh Hills and Colton Posey, Bixby's Bryan Lee and Broken Arrow's Nathan Tyler.
