OKLAHOMA CITY - The Oklahoma Department of Human Services announced a new director of its Developmental Disabilities Services Division on Friday.
Jo Anne Goin, a 38-year DHS employee, will succeed outgoing division Director Jim Nicholson, who is retiring Jan. 31.
"I look forward to leading the division and continuing to build on Jim Nicholson's wonderful legacy of building partnerships with families, advocates, service providers and community leaders," Goin said in a news release. "It is so rewarding to see the people we serve lead rich, successful lives, have friendships and jobs and participate in their communities."
Goin began working for DHS as a social worker in 1974 and has worked in the Developmental Disabilities Services Division since 1988.
"I think Jo Anne will be a wonderful director," Nicholson said in the news release. "She has a rich history and impeccable credentials in the field of developmental disabilities. She has long tenure at the highest level of field management in" the division.
Goin has a bachelor's degree in social work from the University of Oklahoma and a master's degree in social work from the University of Denver, according to the news release.
