Get ready to "laissez les bon temps rouler," Tulsa.
The fourth-annual Blue Dome District Mardi Gras parade is scheduled for 7 p.m. Fat Tuesday, which is Feb. 12 this year.
But organizers are wanting more than bead-catching onlookers. They want folks in the parade, itself, and applications are now being accepted.
Although floats are the most common, organizers are interested in all entries, according to Amanda Williams, marketing manager for McNellie's Group, which sponsors the parade along with Oklahomans for Equality and Blue Dome Merchant's Association.
You can walk with a banner, ride your bike or pull a red wagon, Williams said. "We just want to make this the largest and most visually exciting parade yet."
The application fee is $50 and helps with the cost of barricades, street closures and permit fees.
The parade will start at First Street and Elgin Avenue, then wrap around the Blue Dome District before finishing at Second Street and Elgin Avenue.
Following the parade, various specials and live music will be found among many of the district's establishments.
