Letter to the Editor: What is a terrorist?

A terrorist by any other name is still a terrorist. When people hijack airplanes and crash them into buildings, killing thousands of people, they are rightly labeled as terrorists and held to account.
When al-Qaida guns down women and children in other countries, they too are held to blame and labeled terrorists. In such cases airplanes and AK47s are mere accessories and labeled as such.
Somehow in America when madmen kill innocents they are not called terrorists but are labeled shooters and appear to be merely accomplices, with their weapons and the NRA called to account. Hard to believe, isn't it?
Seems at times as if we let emotions cloud our reasoning and sanity. We must place the responsibility for these crimes where it belongs - on the perpetrators and anyone abetting them or anything contributing to their mental instability such as violent movies and video games.
Those who engage in such activities are nothing more than internal terrorists and we have laws and a defense budget set aside to deal with them.
