Victims of Greer County plane crash identified

MANGUM — A twin-engine plane crashed in southwest Oklahoma, killing all three aboard, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol said.
Trooper Betsy Randolph said the 1964 Beechcraft Baron crashed Saturday afternoon near Mangum in Greer County, about 150 miles southwest of Oklahoma City. She said a witness reported the plane appeared to have engine trouble before it crashed.
Authorities identified the dead as: pilot Stephen Scott, 53, of Mangum; and passengers John Hall, 45, and Edi Ortega, 20, both of Altus.
Randolph said she didn't know where the flight began or was headed.
A Patrol statement released early Sunday said firefighters used a tool to extricate the victims — who were all wearing seat belts — from the wreckage. They were pronounced dead on the scene.
The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating and no immediate cause was given for the crash.
