Basketball
NSU men top Washburn: The Northeastern State men's team upset No. 10 Washburn 85-78 inside Jack Dobbins Field House in Tahlequah. The RiverHawks (12-4 overall, 5-3 MIAA) made a season-high 13 3-pointers on 18 attempts. Junior guard Bryton Hobbs scored 25 points and added seven assists.
NSU women upset top-10 foe again: The Northeastern State women's team posted a 52-43 upset win over No. 9 Washburn at Jack Dobbins Field House in Tahlequah. The RiverHawks (11-5, 6-2 MIAA) knocked off their second top 10 opponent, with the other being then-No. 10 Fort Hays State 54-44 on Jan. 3. Taylor Lewis scored 22 points and Tosha Tyler added 10 to lead NSU.
Gymnastics
OU sets record in win over Denver: The No. 3 Oklahoma women's team knocked off No. 11 Denver in the Sooners' home opener, defeating the Pioneers 197.325-195.850 on Friday in front of 2,389 fans at the Lloyd Noble Center. The Sooners registered a program-best score in a home opener and the 10th-highest overall.
Track and Field
Twelve Sooners win at J.D. Martin Invitational: Oklahoma earned 12 individual golds at the J.D. Martin Invitational Duals at the Mosier Indoor Track Facility in Norman. Seven men and five women won their respective events, which included titles from five freshmen.
Tennis
OU women win opener: The No. 44 Oklahoma women's team won its spring opener, defeating Wichita State, 5-2, at the Headington Family Tennis Center in Norman. The Sooners won the doubles point against the Shockers with wins at the No. 2 and No. 3 positions, then collected four points in singles play.
Cowboys defeated in season opener: Oklahoma State's men's team couldn't keep up with 19th-ranked Tennessee in the Cowboys' season opener, falling 4-0.
New Orleans sweeps ORU men: Oral Roberts fought hard but could not overcome New Orleans, falling 7-0.
ORU women lose: Oral Roberts won the doubles point but could not hold on for the victory in a 4-3 loss to Arkansas-Little Rock.
