Tulsa was held scoreless over the final three minutes as East Carolina rallied for a 69-63 win in women's college basketball Sunday in Greenville, N.C.
Taleya Mayberry had 14 points, a career-high 10 rebounds and five assists for the Golden Hurricane (6-11, 1-3 in Conference USA). Kadan Brady finished with a team-best 16 points, including 3-of-6 on 3-point attempts, while Kelsee Grovey added 10 points.
East Carolina (12-5, 202) was led by Celeste Stewart and Kristine Mial with 14 points each.
East Carolina led 35-34 after a first half that saw seven lead changes and eight ties. A 3-pointer by Brady and a layup by Mayberry put TU ahead 63-59 with just 3:10 remaining, but TU was unable to connect again as the Pirates scored the game's final 10 points.
"Statistically both teams shot the ball well from the floor, both teams shot from the line well ... so it comes down to turnovers and offensive rebounds, but they just beat us," TU head coach Matilda Mossman said. "I don't think it was anything we didn't do, they just beat us."
Tulsa will host Central Florida at 7 p.m. Thursday.
