1916-2013 Billie Shelton, 96, of Columbia, MO was born in Honey Grove, Texas on August 22, 1916 and died on January 17th, 2012 in Columbia, MO. She married W. Herschel Shelton on July 21, 1940. In the late 40’s they moved from Dallas to Tulsa, OK where she was a supportive partner for her husband during his time as vice-president of Spartan Aircraft and later as co-owner and president of Mobile International, Inc. During her time in Tulsa she was active with the Tulsa Garden Club, Tulsa Boys Home and Animal Aid of Tulsa. She remained in Tulsa after her husband’s death in 1984 until December, 2007 when she moved to Columbia, MO to be close to her daughter, Karen. She remained a Columbia resident until her death. She was preceded in death by her brother, Jewell Wheeler, of Dallas. Her daughter, Karen Shelton Rader and son-in-law, Jerome, survive. Billie was very charming, social and beloved by all of her friends and family. She enjoyed life to the fullest and was extremely independent. She was outgoing and loved her dogs, especially her favorite Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, Katie. A private service will be held in Tulsa, OK.
