An arrest warrant was issued Tuesday for a 17-year-old boy in connection with the death of his mother, who was found dead in her home earlier that day, police said.
Tulsa County prosecutors approved a police affidavit seeking the warrant for the arrest of Henry David “Hank” Laird, Sgt. Dave Walker said in a news release Tuesday night.
Relatives found Linda Laird, 56, dead inside her house in the 7400 block of South Urbana Avenue and called the police about 9:45 a.m., Officer Leland Ashley said.
Laird’s parents had not been able to reach her for several days and went to the house Tuesday morning to check on her, Walker said.
They found her dead and saw her son, Hank Laird, leaving the house with another person, Walker said.
Hank Laird, 17, is 5 feet 9 inches tall, weighs 150 pounds and has blue eyes and reddish-pink hair. He was wearing a white shirt and green pajama pants, police said.
Police had said before the arrest warrant was issued that they considered the death suspicious due to unspecified “unusual circumstances.” They did not elaborate Tuesday night.
The state Medical Examiner’s Office will determine the cause of death, police said.
It is Tulsa’s ninth homicide of the year.
