The Jan. 6 article, "New fundraiser helps Planned Parenthood," accompanied by a photograph of smiling supporters of Planned Parenthood, reports on a sold-out dinner that "helped raise more than $103,000 for the organization's mission in Tulsa and eastern Oklahoma."

The article states Planned Parenthood's "mission is to be a leader in providing accessible reproductive health care, education and advocacy."

The truth is that its mission, its real mission, is killing unborn babies in the womb. Last year, Planned Parenthood's centers in the United States killed 350,000 babies. Killing babies is not preventive health care. The preventive health care Planned Parenthood provides, like mammograms, is only 7 percent of what it does. The rest, more than 90 percent, is perpetrating abortions.

Abortions, although legal, are a moral evil, prohibited by this commandment God gave to Moses: "You shall not kill." God also said: "Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you." (Jeremiah 1:5).

Although Barack Obama has proclaimed America is not a Christian country, most Americans believe America is a Judeo-Christian country and believe in the Bible notwithstanding the rampant secularism of which the current president is the leader. It is significant that the federal government gives Planned Parenthood $500 million a year. Since 1973, 53 million babies have been aborted.

Tulsa's March for Life, on Tuesday, starts at 7 p.m. at Holy Family Cathedral at Eighth Street and Boulder Avenue and will end at Centennial Park on Sixth Street between Main Street and Boston Avenue.

Editor's note: According to the agency, the Planned Parenthood annual report "clearly shows that 97 percent of the services provided are preventive, including birth control, cancer screenings, breast exams, Pap tests and so much more. Planned Parenthood does not provide abortion services in Oklahoma."
