Sixteen families were displaced by a three-alarm apartment fire early Wednesday.
Fire crews were called to the Eagle Point Apartments, 5808 E. 71st St., around 1:30 a.m.
The blaze had spread from an upstairs apartment into the attic and was well on its way to the building’s other units by the time firefighters arrived, said Fire Capt. Stan May. A partition in the middle of the building helped contain the fire to one half of the structure, but the other side sustained smoke and water damage.
The Tulsa chapter of the American Red Cross responded to assist the affected residents.
Additional companies were dispatched twice as crews worked for an hour to extinguish the flames, May said.
Investigators with the Tulsa Fire Marshal’s Office are working to determine the fire’s cause.
