Mustang Brewing Company will release the second installment in their new, upper-echelon line of beers, the Saddlebag Series.
Imperial Court Stout, a raspberry-infused Russian Imperial Stout with 9.6 percent alcohol by volume, hits the market in early February.
The beer will again be packaged in serial-numbered 22-oz. bottles, but unlike the first release, part of the limited batch will be kegged for draft enjoyment at select locations.
“Our first release in the series, Brandy’s Imperial Sundae, blew away our sales expectations,” explained Mustang founder Tim Schoelen. “It was obvious that Oklahoma beer drinkers are craving high-end flavors, and we are happy to give it to them — this time with Imperial Court Stout.”
“This beer is distinctly rich, dark and delicious,” said Gary Shellman, Mustang brewmaster since 2009 and a homebrewer for more than 20 years. “You’ll taste caramel and dark chocolate, with a mildly tangy raspberry note, and a hint of earthy hops — a very complex beer for the discerning beer drinker.”
Thom Self, a Tulsa artist known for his Cain’s Ballroom concert posters, again did the artwork for the label.
Since Mustang was not quite ready to brew this beer at its new Oklahoma City brewing facility, this batch was brewed at their partner facility in Krebs.
“Things are coming along nicely at the new OKCity Brewing facility,” Shellman added. “I just ordered the year’s ingredients for us, Black Mesa and Anthem, and (we) will be brewing our first batch shortly. These are very exciting times for us and the other members of the OKCity Brewing cooperative.”
Several chances to sample the beer locally will be available. Tastings will be at 5 p.m. Jan. 31 at McNellie’s in Tulsa and 5 p.m. Feb. 1 at Main Street Tavern in Broken Arrow.
