City of Tulsa crews were working to repair a pair of water line breaks on Thursday evening.
The breaks were at Sixth Street and Utica Avenue and near the intersection of 21st Street and 129th East Avenue, said Rick Caruthers, city of Tulsa distribution systems manager.
The two westbound lanes of Sixth Street were closed in the Utica Avenue area due to a break of a "fire line" leading to a carpet business that occurred early Thursday afternoon, he said.
The other break occurred later in the day about 200 feet north of 21st Street on the east side of 129th East Avenue, Caruthers said. A northbound lane of 129th East Avenue is closed, and various businesses and residences are temporarily without water service as crews make repairs, he said.
Both breaks should be repaired by Friday morning, Caruthers said.
He said it is possible that recent "freeze-thaw" cycles are responsible for the breaks.
