AT&T officials acknowledged Wednesday that subscribers to the company's U-verse service were experiencing outages.
Emily Lang, a spokeswoman for AT&T Inc., said in an emailed statement that the company was aware of the issues in its home Internet and television package.
"AT&T customers in some of our markets are experiencing issues with U-verse service," she said. "This issue currently affects less than 1 percent of our U-verse subscribers, but that is too many and we are working hard to fix this.
"We are making progress in resolving the issue, which is related to a server complex, and are working to determine when service will be completely restored. We apologize for this inconvenience."
U-verse customers reported to the Tulsa World that their service had been interrupted for as long as two days.
A subsequent news release from Dallas-based AT&T said the outages were linked to a server issue affecting customers in the Southwest and Southeast, though it did not specify which states.
Various other news outlets, including the Miami Herald, the Atlanta Journal Constitution, the Houston Chronicle, KARK-TV in Little Rock and the Charlotte Observer, reported outages in their areas.
As of Sept. 30, AT&T had 7.4 million U-verse subscribers.
