The repeal of the Second Amendment would not automatically result in a ban on guns. All existing gun laws would remain unchanged. Repeal would simply give the people the freedom to enact new gun laws appropriate for the 21st century. Most states would probably continue to allow private possession of guns; some might not, but at least reasonable options to control gun violence would not be denied or hampered by an antiquated 18th century "well regulated militia" law.
