We are all saddened by the news of the death of Patti Page. As most know, she was born in Claremore, but moved to Tulsa at an early age. Years ago, a street was renamed here in her honor. She returned to Claremore several times for special events.
Through the Rogers County Historical Society, we are establishing a Claremore Museum of History. It has always been our intention to have an exhibit for Patti Page and place it in the museum. Due to her death, we believe we must act quickly to acquire recordings, memorabilia and pictures for an exhibit. We have a small theater in the museum, so we will be able to show videos.
She will always be loved and remembered in our community, but as time passes, people tend to forget. If any of her family or friends have items they would contribute for this exhibit, please contact the RCHS-Claremore Museum of History, P.O. Box 126, Claremore, OK 74018.
Editor's note: Pool is chairman of the Claremore Museum of History.
