Letter to the Editor: What arrogance

According to Bill Johnson ("Difference of opinion," Jan. 17), all Democrats are unpatriotic, un-Christian and are Communists, don't believe in the Constitution or Bill of Bights, don't believe in fair taxation, aren't concerned about illegal immigration, do believe in equal rights for everyone, do not believe that guns should be freely available to every nutcase who can afford one, don't understand that big government spending needs to be capped and apparently believe the U.N. is above reproach. What arrogance.
As a registered Democrat since 1947, I am proud to have voted for several outstanding Republicans, including Henry Bellmon and Dewey Bartlett Sr. As a Christian, I try to base my life on the teachings of Jesus, to wit: "Judge not, lest ye be judged," "do unto others as you would they do unto you," and, "care for the widows and children, clothe the naked, visit those in prison," etc. And to Peter, "If you love me, feed my lambs."
I do believe that the Second Amendment needs revising. It is frightening to think of everyone and anyone being able to buy and carry a gun. Illegal immigration deserves a solution that is fair to all. I do believe in equal civil rights for every lifestyle.
The role of the U.N. and our support of it need to be revisited. This nation is doomed until our legislators, state and federal, forget their parties and realize that they are first and foremost Americans.
