ORU will play its first game since a 77-48 homecourt wipeout of Lamar, which entered a Thursday game as a co-leader in the Southland Conference standings.
The feel-good victory moved ORU into a three-way second-place tie with Lamar and Central Arkansas (who play each other Saturday night).
When coach Misti Cussen was asked where ORU is in relation to the rest of the league, she answered it by saying this: "I believe this team can compete for a conference championship and can go to the NCAA Tournament. ... We continue to reach up to our potential and we took a good step up (against Lamar)."
A possible measuring stick game arrives Saturday, when ORU plays at home against McNeese State, a preseason league favorite which represented the Southland Conference in each of the last two NCAA Tournaments. The Cowgirls tuned up for their trip to the Mabee Center by winning at Central Arkansas and ending the third-longest homecourt winning streak (22 games) in women's college basketball.
