I see that there is a proposal to enhance the public transit system along the Peoria Avenue corridor. This seems like a great idea, but I feel that the proposal is inadequate to really take care of our public transit needs.
We could do much better by installing a monorail system. Monorail is safer than on-street transit. It is quieter, since it runs on electricity. Installation is much simpler than light rail since there is no need to buy expensive real estate, it can be run above existing streets.
There are many other advantages also. A lot of information is available at The Monorail Society http://www.monorails.org/. I suggest that Tulsans seriously consider the installation of a monorail system to enhance our public transit system.
Also, don't spend Fix-Our-Streets dollars for public transit. That money was intended to fix our streets, not for other projects, no matter how worthy.
