Novelist and screenwriter Delia Ephron, author of the books "Hanging Up" and "How to Eat Like a Child," will be in Tulsa on Wednesday for an event sponsored by BookSmart Tulsa.
Ephron will be discussing her latest novel, "The Lion is In," and talking about her career beginning at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Congregation B'nai Emunah, 1719 S. Owasso Ave. The event is free and open to the public.
In addition to her novels, Ephron has also written books for children and young adults.
She's also known for her work in film, most often collaborating with her sister, the late Nora Ephron, on the screenplays for such films as "You've Got Mail," "Bewitched," "Mixed Nuts" and "This is My Life," which Nora Ephron also directed.
Ephron also was a writer on the films "The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants" and "Michael."
She and Nora Ephron also collaborated on the stage play, "Love, Loss and What I Wore," a collection of vignettes about women's lives that uses the clothes and accessories they wore as a springboard.
Tulsa's Theatre Pops company plans to stage "Love, Loss and What I Wore" on April 4-7 at the Tulsa PAC.
Her latest novel, "The Lion is In," began with a dream, about three women in a ramshackle roadhouse in North Carolina, where the bar's mascot is a lion named Marcel.
"When I woke up, I wondered for a second if what I dreamed was real. Then I knew it was my next novel. For the two years I lived inside this world - three women on the run, each with secrets, each with transgressions, real and imagined - and the lion who would change their lives."
