Oral Roberts University basketball players are wearing "KT" patches on their jerseys in memory of former head coach Ken Trickey, who died in December.
A memorial service for Trickey has been scheduled for 2 p.m. Feb. 16 at All Souls Unitarian Church, 2952 S. Peoria Ave. A reception will follow at the church, according to Trickey's family.
Trickey served two tours of duty as ORU's coach - from 1969-74 and from 1987-93 - and, with 214 victories, is the second-winningest coach in school history behind current coach Scott Sutton.
Gaining fame: ORU's Athletics Hall of Fame gained three new members during a ceremony which took place at halftime of a Saturday home game against McNeese State.
The 2013 hall of fame class included former track and field athlete Dena Dial, former baseball player Ryan Neill and former women's basketball player Elisha Turek.
All members of ORU's Athletics Hall of Fame were invited back to the Mabee Center for the ceremony and to interact with fans after the game.
Lineup change: Redshirt freshman guard Korey Billbury, who established career-highs in points and assists in ORU's previous two games, made his first start since a Nov. 28 loss to Oklahoma. He responded with eight points, six rebounds and eight assists and only two turnovers. Billbury started the season's first seven games before giving way to fellow redshirt freshman D.J. Jackson.
Help arrives: Junior forward Steven Roundtree missed eight games after sustaining a sprained knee and sprained ankle before a Dec. 28 game at Memphis. He returned to duty against McNeese State, coming off the bench to score six points in eight minutes of court time. All of his points came during a 12-0 run late in the first half that gave ORU the lead for good.
Also back in action was junior guard Mikey Manghum, who missed a Thursday home game against Lamar with what Sutton described as a groin injury.
